Faculty Development Programme on Outcome-Based Education Concludes at Roshni Nilaya

Mangalore: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the School of Social Work (Autonomous), Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, has successfully concluded a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) centered on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The programme, titled “Designing Impactful Course Outcome: A hands-on Outcome-Based Education workshop,” was held on January 8-9, 2026, at the Roshni Nilaya campus.

The FDP was meticulously designed to provide faculty members with the fundamental skills required to design student-centered learning environments, develop effective assessment rubrics, and map course outcomes to broader program outcomes. Dr. Flosy C.R. D’Souza, a distinguished Professor and Vice Principal of St. Ann’s PG Studies and Research in Education, Mangalore, served as the resource person, guiding the participants through the intricacies of OBE principles and practices.

The workshop incorporated a diverse range of instructional methods, including expert lectures, interactive discussion sessions, and practical demonstrations. Key areas of focus included a detailed examination of Bloom’s Taxonomy, curriculum mapping techniques, and innovative pedagogical strategies designed to enhance student learning outcomes.

A total of 35 faculty members, representing both postgraduate and undergraduate departments within the institution, actively participated in the programme. Participants gained valuable and practical insights into the principles and application of outcome-driven education to foster a more effective and student-focused learning environment.

The Faculty Development Programme concluded with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the practical orientation and relevance of the topics covered. Many attendees indicated that the workshop had inspired them to critically re-evaluate and reorient their existing teaching practices to better align with the principles of OBE.

Dr. Saritha D’Souza, the IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. Rosa N Mathew, the Co-Coordinator of IQAC, played pivotal roles in the successful organization and execution of the event. Their efforts ensured the smooth delivery of the programme and its positive impact on the faculty members of Roshni Nilaya.
