Farewell to a Departed Friend

Mangaluru: Suresh Mallya (born on 3rd January 1956) and passed away soon after celebrating after his 63rd birthday on the 8th inst. was an architect by profession, educationist by choice and a good human being at heart. Having been his friend as we were neighbours when he was born, I have known him since several decades through thick and thin, from economically weak status to self-sufficiency and from robust good health to problems which we are all wont to face with advancing age.

A jovial person by disposition he was always at the receiving end for a number of jokes from us for which he would also retaliate when the opportunity struck! Starting an architect at Bhakta Associates he grew to start his own firm Mahale Associates and had taken up many projects. More than being busy professionally he was an educationist being on the board of the well known Besant group of educational institutions of Mangalore and the correspondent of the PU college of the conglomerate. In this capacity, he had brought his professional knowledge into good use when construction projects were being undertaken for the group. With a concern for the economically weaker sections of the students, he had always tried to collect funds for the financially deprived students of the institutions where he was on the board. He is survived by his only daughter Sonali and wife Sneha.

We all express our sympathies at his untimely passing away and hope that his family have the strength to bear this great loss.
