Father Muller College of Nursing Marks Ruby Jubilee with Inauguration of New Batches

Mangaluru: Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) marked its Ruby Jubilee on October 7, celebrating 40 years of excellence in nursing education, compassion, and service. The occasion also witnessed the formal inauguration of the 40th batch of B.Sc. Nursing, the 39th batch of P.B.B.Sc. Nursing, and the 35th batch of M.Sc. Nursing for the academic year 2026–27.

The celebration, held at 9:30 a.m., brought together dignitaries, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and students, creating a convergence of FMCON’s rich legacy, vibrant present and promising future.

Adding a distinctive touch to the occasion, 40 alumni representing the institution’s four-decade journey led a ceremonial procession, symbolising generations of nurses who have carried FMCON’s values and legacy across the country and beyond.

The programme began with a prayer led by first-year B.Sc. Nursing students, followed by the welcome address by Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries marked the formal inauguration of the new academic batches and the Ruby Jubilee celebrations.

Delivering the Ruby Jubilee keynote address, Rev. Sr. Dr. Dhanya Devasia, Principal, FMCON, reflected on the institution’s remarkable four-decade journey and its continuing commitment to shaping competent, compassionate, and value-driven nursing professionals.

A major highlight of the celebration was the launch of the Ruby Jubilee countdown clock, symbolically marking the beginning of the institution’s 40th-anniversary celebrations. The Ruby Jubilee logo and theme were also unveiled on the occasion.

The chief guest, Dr. Christopher Sudhakar, Director – Quality and Compliance, MAHE, addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights and encouragement with the institution and the newly admitted students.

The guest of honour, Dr. ESJ Prabhu Kiran, Principal, Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, extended his greetings and highlighted the importance of continuing the tradition of excellence and service associated with the Father Muller institutions.

The creative contributions behind the Ruby Jubilee identity were also recognised. Shledon Lewis, designer of the Ruby Jubilee logo, and Sr. Anjana Rose, contributor to the logo and theme, were felicitated for their valuable contributions.

The presidential address was delivered by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Mangalore. He congratulated Father Muller College of Nursing on completing four decades of service and encouraged the new generation of students to uphold the institution’s values of excellence, compassion and service.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Agnes E.J., Vice Principal, FMCON, followed by the institution anthem.
Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator, FMMCH; Rev. Fr. William D’Souza, Assistant Administrator, FMMCH; Dr. Agnes E.J., Vice Principal, FMSON and FMCON; Rev. Sr. Nancy Mathais, CNO; Prof. Leena Catelino, UG Course Coordinator; Dr. Devina E. Rodrigues, Ruby Jubilee Convener; Dr. Shiji P.J., PG Course Coordinator; and Prof. Helen D’Souza, P.B.B.Sc. Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration
A Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration was held at 7:30 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI, as the main celebrant. In his homily, he said the service rendered by nurses resonates with Christ’s words, “Love thy neighbour.”

He emphasised that although lucrative opportunities are available to nurses, their duty and commitment to patient care remain non-negotiable cornerstones of healthcare. Faculty and students expressed their gratitude through prayers and offerings during the Eucharistic celebration.

The Ruby Jubilee was not merely a commemoration of 40 years but a celebration of the thousands of nursing professionals shaped by FMCON and the countless lives touched through their service. It also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the future of nursing education and healthcare.

As FMCON celebrates four decades of its journey, it continues to uphold the foundational values of knowledge, compassion, service, and excellence while welcoming a new generation of nurses who will carry its legacy forward.

Four decades completed.
A legacy celebrated.
A new generation begins.
The journey continues.
