Father Muller Medical College Hospital Celebrates a Decade of NABH Accreditation and Concludes World Quality Week with Digital Health Milestone
Mangalore: Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) marked a significant milestone, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its NABH Accreditation alongside the closing ceremony of World Quality Week 2025. The week’s events, centered around the theme “Think Differently,” culminated in the recognition of FMMCH’s commitment to quality and innovation in healthcare.

A key highlight of the celebration was the conferral of the NABH Digital Health Standards Gold Certification to FMMCH on August 29, 2025, officially delivered on November 10, 2025. This prestigious honor distinguishes institutions demonstrating advanced digital maturity, seamless technological integration, and a steadfast dedication to patient-centric digital healthcare. The certification acknowledges FMMCH’s comprehensive digital ecosystem, cultivated through years of innovation and progressive transformation. The hospital’s robust Electronic Medical Records (EMR), fully integrated Radiology and Laboratory systems, Biomedical Equipment Management, Transport Bay automation, and the state’s largest Pneumatic Chute System underscore its commitment to speed, accuracy, and safety in patient care. Recent advancements, including the Digital Quality Management System, Voice-to-Text documentation, BMW Barcode Tracking, and automated workflow platforms, further enhance efficiency and transparency within the institution.
The NABH Digital Gold Standard places FMMCH among India’s pioneers in digital healthcare, validating its commitment to integrating compassionate care with cutting-edge technology. It stands as a testament to the hospital’s pursuit of excellence, innovation, and patient safety across all aspects of its operations.
World Quality Week featured a diverse range of activities, including a Lean Six Sigma Workshop, a WOW (Wealth Out of Waste) Competition, a Seminar on Incident RCA & CAPA, and a Memory Game Challenge. The program commenced with a prayer led by the Nursing Department, followed by a formal inauguration.
Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator of FMMCH, reflected on the hospital’s ten-year journey of quality advancement, complemented by the audio-visual presentation “Journey of FMMCH in Quality.” He elaborated on the institution’s legacy of excellence, rooted in the 145-year history shaped by the vision of Rev. Fr. Augustus Muller, S.J. Fr. Muller’s mission of compassion and service laid the foundation for an institution built on ethics, healing, and trust. This enduring legacy continues to guide FMMCH in upholding its commitment to quality care.
FMMCH’s NABH journey commenced on August 3, 2015, marking a pivotal moment in its pursuit of structured, safe, and ethical healthcare. Since then, the hospital has successfully completed three cycles of accreditation, each reinforcing its culture of continuous improvement. The institution is now embarking on its fourth cycle (August 3, 2025 – August 2, 2029).

- 2022: CAHO – 2nd Place (South Region) for ACE A Quality Initiative in CSSD
- 2024: Endo-Safe Audit completion
- Aug 29, 2025: NABH Digital Health Standards Gold Certification, positioning FMMCH among India’s leaders in digital healthcare.

FMMCH received its 4th Cycle NABH Accreditation and the NABH Digital Health Standards Gold Accreditation, with certificates presented by Dr. Prathvi Shetty and Dr. Helen Gnanakalanjiam to the Management, affirming the institution’s continued dedication to safety, standardization, and digital transformation.
The ceremony included a special felicitation of the Quality Initiators: Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, former Director FMCI; Dr. Sanjeev Rai, former Dean FMMC and NABH Coordinator; Rev. Fr. Rudolf Ravi D’Sa, former Administrator FMMCH; Rev. Fr. Nelson D Pais, Administrator FMHPD; Dr. Venkatesh B M, Vice Dean FMMC and former NABH Coordinator FMMCH; and Dr. Prathvi Shetty, NABH Coordinator, FMMCH, whose early efforts laid the foundation of FMMCH’s robust quality culture.
Rev. Fr. Richard, speaking on behalf of those honored, shared insights into the accreditation system and the journey undertaken, emphasizing the collective determination of the FMMCH workforce in achieving this milestone.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of MedBlaze, FMMCH’s new digital Quality Management System. Introduced by Ms. Jyothi Seema Moras, Assistant Quality Control Manager, the platform aims to streamline processes, enhance transparency, and support ongoing quality enhancement initiatives.
Dr. Anand R, a renowned quality leader, NABH Principal Assessor, Member Steering Committee of NABH, distinguished Pulmonologist, Head of Medical Education at KMC Mangalore, and Head – Quality at Manipal Health Enterprises Pvt Ltd, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the ongoing journey of excellence and patient-centered care. He was later felicitated by the Director.
