Father Muller Paediatrics Department Celebrates Children’s Day with Enthusiasm

Mangaluru: The Department of Paediatrics at Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH), in collaboration with the Department of Paediatric Nursing at Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) and the Department of Speech and Hearing, orchestrated a vibrant Children’s Day celebration on the afternoon of November 15th, 2025. Held in the hospital’s Conference Hall, the event fostered an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie, leaving a lasting positive impression on the young attendees. Dr Himalini and Dr Satwik skillfully emceed the proceedings.

Dr Anil Shetty, Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics, initiated the program with a warm welcome address, setting a cheerful and heartfelt tone for the day. A focal point of the event was the recognition of Miss Iza, a three-year-old bone marrow transplant recipient who bravely battled thalassemia major. Her resilience was lauded as an inspiration, and Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) bestowed a special honour upon her in recognition of her courage.

The celebration was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of FMCI; Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator of FMMCH; Rev. Dr Michael Santhumayor, Administrator of FMMC; Dr Antony Sylvan D’Souza, Dean of FMMC; Dr Kishan Shetty, Deputy Medical Superintendent of FMMCH; Prof. Sr. Danya Devasia, Principal of FMCON; Prof. Cynthia Santhumayor, Principal of the Department of Speech and Hearing; and Prof. Wilma Noronha, Head of Paediatrics Nursing.

The program featured spirited dance performances by students and staff, followed by a prize distribution ceremony recognising the talents of young participants in drawing, reel-making, and fancy-dress competitions. The judges were presented with orchid plants as tokens of appreciation. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Mr Rajesh Mali presented a captivating magic show, and Sam created delightful balloon sculptures that enthralled the children. Face-painting activities further enhanced the celebratory mood, adding vibrant colours and smiles to the occasion.

Dr Shreya G. Shenoy delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. With the participation of FMCI staff children, hospitalised children and their families, and the dedicated teams from the Paediatrics, Speech and Hearing, and Nursing departments, the Children’s Day celebration proved to be a memorable occasion characterised by joy, courage, and a profound sense of community.
