Mangaluru: Prithviraj (25) of Shaktinagar, Sharif V H (36) of Valachil Adyar and Harshit (36) and Deekshit Poojary (37) from Kulshekar and Imran (30) of Shivanagara Moodushedde were arrested by the city crime branch (CCB) police in Thokkottu on Tuesday.
The CCB had received a tip-off that the five had come in a car and a bike to Olapete in Thokkottu to peddle ganja. Accompanied by tahsildar Shivashankar, they intercepted them.
Five kgs of ganja, a Fiat Punto car, a Bajaj Discovery motorbike, nine mobile phones and Rs 1,105 – aggregating to a total value of Rs 10 lakh – were seized from them. They were arrested.
The police said that since the mobile phones might contain numbers of many other suppliers and prospective buyers, a deep probe would be held.
They have also cautioned that if proof anyone having bought and planning to buy and abuse the drug would be prosecuted.
