Five arrested while Transporting Unaccounted Rs 35 Lakh , 2000 denomination Notes

Bhatkal: Five persons from Shivamogga have been arrested while transporting unaccounted, Rs 35 lakh of Rs 2000 denomination notes at Sagar Road here on November 29.

The arrested have been identified as Udaya Kadappa Gowda, Subramanya Vasappa Gowda, Rudramuni Omkarappa Gowda, Suresh Ganapati Mumbar and Pradeep Krishna Murthy, all from Hosanagar Shivamogga.

According to the police, on November 29, the accused were transporting Rs 35 lakh of Rs 2000 denomination currency without any documents. The incident came to light when Bhatkal police were checking the vehicles on Sagar Road.

The Bhatkal police are investigating the case and the reason for transporting such a huge amount without any documents. There are rumours that in Bhatkal, on a commission basis, some people convert the black money to white.

A case has been registered in the Bhatkal police station and the investigation is on.
