Five killed, three critically injured as car crashes into tree in UP’s Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh): At least five people were killed and three others were seriously injured after their car lost control and crashed into a roadside tree on the Delhi-Badayun highway in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, officials said.

The accident took place near Ratanpur Khedia village in the Narora police station area when the family was travelling from Kasganj to Belon village to offer prayers at a Mata temple.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Bulandshahr Superintendent of Police, eight people were travelling in the Eeco car. They were residents of Daheli Buzurg village under the Sidhpura police station area of Kasganj district.

The family was on its way to a temple in Belon when the vehicle went out of control and rammed into a roadside tree.

Eyewitnesses said the car was travelling at a very high speed. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was badly damaged, leaving its occupants trapped inside.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident. With the help of local residents, police personnel extricated the victims from the mangled vehicle and rushed them by ambulance to the Dibai Community Health Centre (CHC).

Doctors at the hospital declared five of them dead. The three injured were given preliminary treatment, after which they were referred to a higher medical centre in view of their critical condition.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the family members were travelling from Kasganj to Bulandshahr for a religious visit.

The families of the deceased have been informed about the accident, and relatives have left Kasganj for Bulandshahr.

The police have sent the bodies for postmortem examination and are investigating the cause of the accident.
