Four-Day Mega Bible Convention Inaugurated at Cordel Church Grounds

Mangaluru: A four-day Mega Bible Convention, themed ‘The Word of Christ dwells among you,’ commenced on February 26th at the Holy Cross Church grounds in Cordel, Kulshekar. The event, a collaborative effort between the Mangalore Diocese Charismatic Service Communion and the Commission for Bible of the Diocese of Mangaluru, is slated to run until March 1st.

The inaugural day began with a solemn procession honoring the Holy Bible. Msgr. Maxim Noronha led the procession, during which the Bible was ceremoniously carried to the altar, positioned centrally, and adorned with a garland. Msgr. Noronha, in concert with a cohort of priests, then presided over the hoisting of the Convention flag, thus officially inaugurating the event. A Holy Mass, concelebrated by Msgr. Noronha and the attending clergy followed the flag-hoisting ceremony.

During his homily, Msgr. Noronha implored attendees to express gratitude to God for the opportunity to convene at Cordel Grounds and participate in the Bible Convention. He reflected on the transformative influence of Jesus Christ, reminding the faithful of Christ’s capacity to alter even the most hardened hearts.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Stany Goveas of Madanthyar Parish and Fr. Anil Fernandes, SVD, of Mulky delivered in-depth lectures in Konkani on selected themes and passages from the Bible. Fr. J. B. Crasta of Bejai Parish led Eucharistic Adoration, praise and worship sessions, and a healing prayer service.

Lay ministers provided guidance to the attendees in prayerful singing, praise, and worship activities throughout the day.
The Mega Bible Convention is envisioned as a platform for spiritual enrichment and enhanced understanding of biblical principles. Over the course of the four-day event, attendees can anticipate a comprehensive program including talks, workshops, and prayer sessions. Organizers anticipate a significant turnout from across the Mangalore Diocese and surrounding regions. The event extends a welcome to individuals of all ages and backgrounds who seek to deepen their faith and engage with the Holy Scriptures, aiming to foster a supportive environment where attendees can explore and fortify their understanding of Christian teachings.
