Mangaluru : As they say “Better Late Than Never”, Christmas 2019 celebrations were held at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte, Mangaluru was held on Wednesday, 8 January 2020, for the fact that the FIRST scheduled Christmas 2019 celebration on 21 December 2019, had to be cancelled due to the unexpected Curfew that was clamped in Mangaluru- so with the full support of FMCI Director Fr Richard Coelho, a full-fledged Christmas 2019 along with New Year 2020 celebration was held on 8 January.

Yes, the season of joy was once again here at the FMHMC in the month of January 2020, the season of belonging and fun, and the season of warmth and hope. The season when everyone is ONE. It’s the season of Christmas- and the belated Christmas was celebrated in gusto and fervour at FMHMC. There was Christmas music, trumpet sound of joy and rebirth. Everyone present in the campus tried to sing in their hearts to bring peace to men on Earth, because Christmas is the season of praise and thanksgiving for the incarnation of the Jesus Christ. And it was wonderful to see the students back from their Christmas holidays, after spending time with their families and friends in their hometown, gathered in the FMHMC campus to share the joy and happiness of this winter.

The ‘Frosty Fiesta 2019’ celebration began with a prayer song invoking God’s blessing by the College Choir group, followed by welcome address by Fr Roshan Crasta-the Administrator of FMHMC, a person with an optimistic heart and a smiling face, who said, “Christmas is a feast celebrated with pomp and splendour across the universe irrespective of caste, creed, religion and culture, and therefore we have this celebration among students from various religion. Since Christmas is beyond all religion and culture it brings joy, peace, hope and love to everyone. Even though we missed to celebrate it on 21 December 2019, we are happy to have the bash now, and I thank Fr Richard Coelho for supporting us in this celebration. Since Christmas is feast of sharing and giving, let us extend our helping hand towards the needy, thereby be the ambassadors of joy and hope, and make a difference in others lives”.

Yes, Christmas is like a candy, it slowly melts in our mouth, sweetening every taste bud, making a wish, it would last forever. Now it was time to cut the Christmas cake, which was done by Fr Richard Coelho-Director of FMCI, along with Fr Roshan Crasta, Dr Shivaprasad- Principal-FMHMC; Dr ESJ Prabhu Kiran-VP-FMHMC; Fr Peter Noronha- Former FMCI Director; Fr Felix Noronha- Spiritual Director; Dr Deeap Rebello-Cultural Coordinator, among others. It was now to felicitate a bunch of Mullerians who ran an extra mile and captured the attraction of their college mates and teachers. The Throwball team who brought glory to the college was felicitated, followed by felicitations to bunch of young budding researchers; the first students who took up the STSH research project and dedicated their 100% efforts for the successful completion of the same.

Also felicitated were Dr Sooraj and his team for their passion and team work which brought colours to the Christmas celebrations held at FMCI-Kankanady through their overwhelming skit performance; felicitations to Dr Midhun,Dr Febin and team for creating a wonderful crib in FMHMC campus, and to Dr Sr Soumya and team for creating a beautiful crib in front of the Our Lady of Lourdes grotto. The souvenir of Homoeopathic Conference ‘INVINIO 2019’ was released by the FMCI Director on the occasion.

In his message, Fr Richard Coelho said, “Nice to see you all back at the campus. If you never came back, it would be like trees without leaves. You are the people who bring joy and enthusiasm on the campus. Even though you missed to organize the Christmas celebration on 21 December 2019, be happy to enjoy the celebrations today, along with New Year 2020 celebration. Christmas is a celebration of love- a love that God had bestowed upon us. It is a season of joy, also a season of giving and sharing. The greatest gift God gave us is His Son Jesus Christ as our friend and protector. Jesus is truly a gift to all of us- a gift of grace, peace, joy and happiness. Let us take the Christmas joy and peace to the New Year 2020 which is again God’s benevolence on us. God loves us ceaselessly and has given us one more year to experience His love in 2020. With grateful hearts, let us greet one another by exchanging love and peace of Christmas in the New Year 2020 too”.

“I will give thanks to the Lord with my heart, I will recount all your wonderful deeds”- Psalms 9:1- for everything God created is good and nothing is to be rejected and if it is received with thanksgiving- and Dr Shivaprasad expressed his gratefulness to everyone who helped in making the Christmas and New Year 2020 celebrations successful. Following the formal function it was time for Christmas Carol singing contest, where four students team and one faculty/staff team participated. The two judges, namely- Fr Maxim D’souza- Professor in Theology and a Musician at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru; and Dr Suraj Noronha- Associate Professor at Manipal Institute of Management-Manipal, were introduced by Ms Anolin Sebastian- Coordinator of Jesus Youth Group. Both the judges were presented with mementos on stage.

Following the prize distribution to the winners in carol singing contest by Fr Roshan Crasta, it was time for some fun performance by a bevy of Santa Claus, which the crowd went crazy, and also started to dance to a few Christmas and other songs, to make the celebration full of joy and happiness that Christmas brings. No doubt Christmas waves a magic wand over this world and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful- and the atmosphere at FMHMC was in full spirit of Christmas mood, and the fun ended with a ‘Frosty Fiesta 2019’ dance to be remembered. The whole programme was meticulously and professionally compered by Md Stephy Varghese (IIIrd year) and Ms Anna Lakshmi (IV Year) of FMHMC. Ho..ho..ho…
