Golfer Aditi leads by two strokes

Bangkok, Sep 9 (IANS) India’s Aditi Ashok stretched her overnight lead to four shots at the end of Day 2 of the 81st Singha Thailand Amateur Championship here on Wednesday.

The Bengaluru girl, who won the Ladies British Amateur strokeplay Championship and the prestigious St. Rule Trophy at St. Andrews earlier this year, shot another one-under 71 for a two-day total of two-under 142 at the Par-72 Panya Indra Golf Club.

The other Indian girls participating, Delhi’s Seher Atwal, Bengaluru’s Anisha Padukone shot six-over 78 and five-over 55 to be placed 26th and 32nd, respectively.

In the men’s event, Thailand-born Samarth Dwivedi jumped eight places to 22nd after shooting one-over 73 for a total of six-over 150.

Bengaluru’s Jaibir Singh also had a better day than Tuesday as he submitted a card of one-over 73 for a total of 11-over 155 to move up to 39th from 62nd.

Jaipur’s Hemendra Choudhary slipped one place to 64th after carding another disappointing round of six-over 78 for a two day total of 16-over 160.

Thanaphum Khanchitworakun from the host nation took the round two lead in the men’s category after firing a best round of four-under 68 for a two day total of four-under 140 in a field that has players from Taiwan, Japan, UAE, China, Myanmar, Singapore, Australia, Philippines, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and host nation Thailand.
