Govt Responsible for Untoward Incidents during Arrest of Hindu Leaders – VHP

Mangaluru: “The police have filed false cases against Hindu leaders in connection with the stone pelting while the body of Sharath was taken in a procession on July 8 to his hometown from Mangaluru. If Hindu leaders will be arrested VHP will hold a massive protest and any untoward incidents occurring during the protest the state government will be directly responsible”, said the district President of VHP Jagadish Shenava in a press meet held at the VHP office here on July 10.

Addressing the mediapersons Jagadish Shenava said, “Investigation should be done and those who were involved in pelting stones during the procession should be arrested. But if the police file false cases on our leaders we will not sit quiet. Cases have been filed against Satyajit Suratkal, Sharan Pumpwell, Harish Punja, Muralikrishna and Pradeep which we strongly condemn. All the above persons were not present at the time of stone pelting. How can the police file cases against them under section 307?”, Jagadish questioned.

“The VHP and Bajrang Dal Mangaluru division will hand over Rs 50,000 to Sharath’s family”, said Prof M B Puranik.

Bhujang Kulal, Vasudev Gowda, Manohar Suvarna, Praveen Kuthar, Shivanand Mendon, Gopal Kuthar and Punith Attavar were also present.
