Heavy Rains: Rivers Flowing at Dangerous Level in Kundapur

Kundapur: With the heavy lashing rain across the Udupi district, the water level in the Rivers in Kundapur and Byndoor have increased drastically.

With Navunda, Badakere, Siddapura, Hadavu receiving heavy rain, the inflow of water to the Varahi Dam has also increased.

Already the water is released into the Varahi river from the reservoir. The release of water to the river is likely to increase by evening.

People living on the banks of the river at Siddapura have been asked to remain cautious.

Without proper stormwater drains, inundated roads in the Taluk have caused inconvenience to the motorists. The gusty wind has uprooted many electricity poles and trees in the district.

In the past 24 hours, Udupi district received an average of 49.0 mm rainfall. Kundapur received the highest of 64.0 mm rain followed by Karkala-52. 0 mm, and Udupi-32.0 mm.
