Mangaluru: All you fans of Bollywood queen Shilpa Shetty get ready to have close encounters with her when she is coming down to her hometown-Kudla on 26 September to launch the ‘Mother & Child” Centre at Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru. In a video that has gone viral, our Kudla queen is seen talking in Tulu and English, all excited to visit her hometown to be at the inaugural function, and also to interact with her dear fans. About this beauty of Kudla, Shilpa Shetty, also known by her married name Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who is a Bollywood actress, producer, businesswoman, is primarily known for her work in Hindi films, and she has also appeared in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films. Shetty made her acting debut with Baazigar (1993), following which she played a dual role in the action-comedy Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), both of which were commercial successes. She then featured in several films that fared poorly at the box office and Dhadkan (2000) marked a turning point.[4] She started in dramas Indian (2001), Phir Milenge (2004), Life in a… Metro (2007) and Kannada drama Auto Shankar.

Shetty became a global figure after winning the 2007 British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother 5, with 63% of the final vote, following an international racism controversy. Shetty married businessman Raj Kundra in 2009, with whom she has a son. Shilpa Shetty was born in a Tuluva Bunt family, in Kudla aka Mangaluru, where her father Surendra and her mother, Sunanda are both manufacturers of tamper-proof water caps in the pharmaceutical industry. In Mumbai, Shetty attended St. Anthony Girls’ High School in Chembur, Mumbai, and later attended Podar College in Matunga. A trained Bharatanatyam dancer, she was also captain of the volleyball team at school.

In 1991, after completing her tenth-grade examinations, Shetty began her career as a model with a Limca television commercial and subsequently featured in several other commercials and advertisements, following which she began receiving offers for film roles. Shetty continued to pursue her career as a model until she became an actress.
