Honoring ‘Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana’ Winners, Philately Quiz and Seminar at St Aloysius High School-Mangaluru
Mangaluru: The programme at St. Aloysius High School, Kodialbail-Mangaluru began with a prayer and a welcome note on 26 July 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. M. Jagadish Pai SSP of the Postal Department of Mangalore Division honoured the recipients of “Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana” winners- the Scholarship winners were Master Suman Pinto; Master Desmond D’Cunha and Master Lester Lobo
Mansoor conducted a preliminary written philately quiz for teams of two, 26 teams participated and the selected four winners in the finals were 1st Place Lester Lobo and Calvin Fernandes; IInd place-Prathemash Nayak and Aaron D’Souza; 1st consolation- Zeeshan Ahmed and Keith Fernandes; and IInd consolation- Desmond D’Cunha and Sheldon Menezes
Maxi G Pinto spoke about the various programmes of the postal department and congratulated the winners and ask them to continue their thirst for knowledge and philately. The Headmaster Rev. Fr. Gerald Furtado S.J. congratulated the winners and inspired the children to learn from their stamp collection. “For stamps, will take you in to the world of history, science, technology and many other topics. Through philately one could travel the world” said Fr Furtado Sj.
Collection on “BUTTERFLIES” by Baikady Srinivas was exhibited for the children to understand their stamps better and make it possible to arrange their collection for which Mansoor conducted a seminar. The three ASP’S namely G V Laxminarayan, Dinesh P and Maxi G Pinto were present along with the Inspectors- Dayanand Devadiga, and Lester D’souza, and the other members of the postal department
