Huge tailbacks on Abu Dhabi roads as coronavirus travel ban comes into effect
Several roads leading to Abu Dhabi experienced huge tail backs on Tuesday morning as the capital’s week-long ban came into effect from today (June 2).
The capital has suspended inter-emirate travel to conduct mass Covid-19 coronavirus testing.
Sheikh Zayed Road around Jebel Ali Salik toll gate was chock-a-block as hundreds of cars got stuck in a morning rush hour traffic in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Police has set up 12 checkpoints at various entrances of the emirate. Motorists and residents will need a movement permit to travel around for essential purpose only.
The police announced on Monday that there is a ban on movement in and out of Abu Dhabi as well as between the emirate’s regions of Capital city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
