Illegal Transport of Rice from Fair Price Shop in Kalpane, 5 including Owner arrested 

Mangaluru: The Kankanady police have arrested five persons for illegally transporting rice from the fair price Shop and seized 130 sacks of 50 kgs each weighing rice, 20 sacks (50 kgs each) of chicken feed rice, electronic weighing machine and a Lorry all worth Rs 12.20 Lakh at Kulshekar here late night on July 5.

The arrested have been identified as Shibudatta Gudiya, Kiran Gudiya, Bhimal Gudiya, Rohit Kumar and fair price shop owner Paul Mendonca. The lorry driver is absconding.

According to the police on July 5, the police got information from reliable sources that rice was being illegally transported from the fair price shop at Kalpane, Kulshekar. The Kankanady Town police got into action and arrested all the five along with 130 sacks of rice (weighing 50 Kgs each), 20 sacks (50 kgs each) of chicken feed rice, electronic weighing machine and a Lorry from their possession.

All the five accused were produced before the court. A case has been registered in the Kankanady Town Police station and investigation is on.
