‘Impressed with DK Women Entrepreneurs’- US Consul Lauren Lovelace

“I am really impressed with the Women Entrepreneurs of Dakshina Kannada, and also DK should be proud to note that the President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) is not only a Woman but also the youngest woman president across all chambers of Commerce”- US Consul Lauren Lovelace from US Consulate General-Chennai during a meeting at KCCI

Mangaluru: A round table discussion was held at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference Hall between Ms Lauren Lovelace-the Consul for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, US Consulate-Chennai and the Board members of KCCI. The discussion was on “Promoting Inclusive Entrepreneurship “, and this year the theme for Global Entrepreneurship is “Women First, Prosperity for All”. The summit will be held in Hyderabad in November, which is a pre-eminent annual gathering of emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders from all over the globe. A senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump (also the daughter of US President) who will lead the US delegation at the summit. Nearly 1600 delegates from 16 countries are expected for the summit.

Addressing the KCC board members, Lauren said, ” Dakshina Kannada has the great potential in the field of agriculture, health, media, energy, and advertising. I am also impressed to note that there are great women entrepreneurs in DK, and your district should be proud to have a woman president of KCCI, who happens to be the youngest woman president across all chambers of commerce”.

“These DK women entrepreneurs are intended to implement their ideas in the overall plan of the US mission in India in the run-up to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. Even though gender discrimination, capacity building and access to capital are primary reasons that hamper the growth of women entrepreneurs, but India happens to be one of the countries that housed the most number of women CEO’s and those who held significantly high leadership positions” added Lauren.

Vathika Pai- President of KCCI welcomed the US Consul with a floral bouquet and presented her with a memento, while Prashanth- secretary of KCCI delivered the vote of thanks.
