Inciting Speeches by BJP Leaders led to Violence in Delhi – Ivan D’Souza

Mangaluru: “The people of this country are looking at each other in a suspicious manner. People do not trust others. There are protests against the CAA/NRC/NPR. The ruling party is blaming the opposition. There is an undeclared emergency-like situation in the country. The BJP government led by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are not allowing people to live in peace. From the past 75 days there are protests in the country and already 45 people have lost their lives in the violence in Delhi. More than 76 people have been killed during the protests against CAA and NRC all over the country. More than 60% of the states are against the CAA/NRC/NPR. The Prime Minister, Home Minister and the law minister have failed to maintain law and order in the country. The Modi government has no right to be in power especially the Home minister should resign from his post. Four BJP leaders delivered inciting speeches saying “Goli Maro”, in Delhi which led to violence”, alleged MLC Ivan D’Souza in a press meet held at his office, MCC Building Lalbagh here on February 29.

Addressing the mediapersons Ivan D’Souza said, “The law and order situation in our country has completely failed and the BJP leaders are blaming the Congress to hide their mistakes. Instead of correcting their mistakes, they are blaming Congress, Congress wants to retain peace and harmony in the country. BJP and RSS leaders have never fought for the freedom of the country, they think that the History of the country started only after Modi came to power in 2013 and are trying to prove it. People should give the BJP a befitting reply.”

Ivan further said, “Modi invited Donald Trump to India and spent Rs 150 crore to hide the slums in Gujarat. I would like to ask whose money did Modi spend? Instead of showing the reality of the country, Modi is hiding it and insulting the people. We have slums in our country, people still live in slums, why is Modi shy to show the slums to Trump. If Modi cannot accept reality, he is not fit to be the prime minister”.

Ivan also said, “BJP leaders insult freedom fighters by calling them fake. 103-year-old Doreswamy was in jail for 9 years during the freedom struggle. Yatnal should be sacked from the party for commenting against Doreswamy. Everybody has the right to speak against the wrong policies of the government and Doreswamy had expressed his opinion against CAA. When someone opposes the government’s policies, they are called fake freedom fighters. Nalin Kumar has said that “Yatnal’s statement was personal”. According to the BJP, they are real and freedom fighters are fake. Politics of division and enmity is going on in our country, those who speak against CAA/NRC/NPR are called terrorists and anti-social elements. Yatnal has spoken against the constitution, if he does not apologize we will stage a protest in the assembly. Police should file a Sau Moto sedition case against him. We will not allow the government to implement CAA/NRC in Karnataka. We have already submitted the notice to the chairman in the legislative council and he has accepted it by giving us the date on March 4, to discuss in the council”.
