ISKCON PVS Kalakunj Hosts Mangalore’s Grandest Janmashtami Celebrations, Drawing Over 20,000 Attendees

Mangalore: ISKCON PVS Kalakunj commemorated the divine appearance of Lord Sri Krishna with Mangalore’s Grandest Janmashtami Festival on August 15th and 16th. The two-day celebration, marked by unmatched devotion and grandeur, witnessed an overwhelming response, drawing over 20,000 devotees and visitors.

A central attraction of the festival was the spectacular 30-foot-tall portrait of Bala Krishna, which served as a focal point for devotees and a popular backdrop for photographs.

The cultural segment of the festival featured a captivating performance titled “Sri Krishna Vaibhavam” by the renowned Alva’s troupe. The vibrant depiction of Krishna’s pastimes left the audience spiritually uplifted and artistically inspired.

A particularly divine and mesmerizing moment was the Grand Midnight Abhishekam and Arati, accompanied by soulful mantra chanting. The spiritual vibrations resonated throughout the venue, leaving attendees awestruck and deeply moved by the transcendental experience.

Adding another dimension to the festivities were the live food counters featuring renowned Mangalorean brands such as Ocean Pearl, Ideal Ice Cream, and Hangyo Ice Cream, alongside a live prasadam counter from ISKCON. Guests savored a variety of delicacies while immersing themselves in the festive atmosphere. All visitors were offered complimentary prasadam, ensuring a wholesome spiritual and culinary experience.

The stage program was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Janmashtami President and MLA Sri Vedavyas Kamath, Dr. M. Mohan Alva, President of the Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, and Dr. M.B. Puranik, Chairman of Sharada Vidyalaya. The dignitaries honored the event with their presence, sharing words of encouragement and blessings with the assembled devotees.

Devotees also had the opportunity to participate in the Ullaye Seva, the swing service of the Lord, and partake in the divine darshan of Sri Krishna, enriching the celebration with a deeply devotional experience for all.

ISKCON PVS Kalakunj expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all devotees, volunteers, sponsors, and well-wishers who contributed to the grand success of the divine event. The celebration served as a true reflection of Mangalore’s vibrant culture, unwavering devotion, and strong community spirit.

The organizing team, encouraged by the tremendous response received this year, anticipates an even larger turnout for next year’s Janmashtami celebrations, promising newer attractions and experiences for devotees.

Dignitaries present at the press meet included Sri Gunaakara Rama Dasa, President, ISKCON, Mangalore; Sri Sanandana Dasa, Vice-President, ISKCON, Mangalore; and Sri Sundara Gaura Dasa, Co-Ordinator, ISKCON, Mangalore.
