Damascus, Dec 22 (IANS) Syrian forces downed an Israeli drone over the province of al-Qunaitera in the southern part of Syria Sunday, media reported.
According to a military source, the Skylark 1 drone was downed near the town of Hadar in the al-Qunaitera province, which borders the Israeli-occupied region of Golan Heights, Xinhua reported, citing the state-run al-Ekhbairia TV.
The report however, gave no further details.
The Israeli air force has struck several Syrian military sites over the course of the nearly four-year-old conflict without a direct response from Damascus.
Israeli forces hit two Syrian positions in Damascus Dec 7, leaving property losses only, according to Syria’s state-run media.
Israeli missiles also struck a research centre near Damascus in May 2013 and another site in January, the same year.
