Jaya Karnataka seeks Narendra Modi’s intervention in Mahadayi Water row

Udupi: The Jayakarnataka Udupi district Unit held a protest near the Clock Tower on July 28 against the verdict in the Mahadayi Water Dispute, of the Tribunal’s interim order against releasing water to Karnataka.

The members of Jayakarnataka raised slogans against the verdict, demanding drinking water

Addressing the protesters Janani Divakar Shetty president of the Unit said that, the influence of the political parties was not required since this was a people’s struggle. All the parties come and protest with us when they are seeking power. But once they come to power, they do nothing. The people of the region have been demanding for the project to be implemented from the past 16 years. In Goa the Bharathiya Janata Party is in power, Shetty demanded PM Narendra Modi to intervene in resolving the row over Mahadayi drinking water. The Prime minister should convince the concerns authorities in Goa on the utilization of Mahadayi water he added.
