Los Angeles, Sep 21 (IANS) After being left out of ‘In Memoriam’ tribute at the Academy Awards in February, a homage was paid to actress Joan Rivers at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, which was held here on Sunday.

Rivers, who died last year, was featured in an extended clip during the slideshow of actors, writers, directors, producers and composers, who had passed away since the Emmys were held last year.

The segment opened with director Mike Nichols and closed with Leonard Nimoy saying “Live long and prosper”.

Rivers passed away on September 4, 2014, at the age of 81, after not being able to recuperate once she was placed in a medically-induced coma due to complications related to a surgical procedure.

The slideshow of images during the 67th Emmy Awards had Eva Cassidy’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as the background score.

The images included “Scream” director Wes Craven, “The Godfather” actor Alex Rocco, producer Jerry Weintraub and “The Avengers” star Patrick Macnee.

There were also mentions for “Eight Is Enough” patriarch Dick Van Patten, “Simpsons” creator Sam Simon, actor Leonard Nimoy, blues legend B.B. King and sportscaster Frank Gifford.
