Los Angeles, Aug 5 (IANS) Actor Joel McHale says “Community” won’t be getting a seventh season as the cast of the popular TV series would be too expensive to bring back.

The actor shared the status of the series while talking to Metro Weekly magazine, reports variety.com.

“All of our contracts were up after six years. All the actors on the show, almost without exception – their stock has risen significantly and it’s out of the pay rate that is affordable to make the show.

“So you’re not going to be able to get Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs at a normal television salary anymore. There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show,” McHale said.

“Community” was cancelled last year by NBC after five seasons, but it was revived for a sixth season by Yahoo. The series wrapped its 13-episode run on Yahoo! Screen in June.

Presenting a breather to the fans, a representative for Sony Pictures TV, which produces the comedy series, noted that “Community” is not yet cancelled officially.

“We’ve seen tremendous value in our partnership with Sony and are continuing to discuss future opportunities for ‘Community’,” Yahoo said in a statement on Tuesday.
