AJLOUN

The towering Arab-Islamic Castle of Ajloun or Qalaat Errabadh (Arabic for “Hilltop Castle”), was built in 1184-85 as a protection against invading crusaders.  It has a splendid view into the Jordan Valley. It is a perfect example of Arab and Islamic architecture.  Although the temperature outside was hot, the inside of the castle was so cool it was as if an air conditioner was on.

The castle today is beautifully preserved and is a popular attraction for foreigners & Jordanians alike. The structures, towers, chambers, galleries and staircases that form part of the castle, as well as the beautiful scenery that surrounds the places nearby will captivate you.

AQABA

Aqaba is Jordan?s year-round Red Sea resort. It is permanently brimming with tourists, who love the excellent beaches, snorkeling, water skiing, wind surfing, fishing and scuba diving.

Aqaba is dazzling, warm and inviting, fringed with palm trees and lapped by crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Aqaba.  Its mountains change colour as the day goes by, starting with a bright brown at dawn and turning to purple at dusk. By taking a short trip on the ?Glass Boats?, you can have a dazzling view of the undersea world of coral, fish and other marine life. Of special interest among the ancient and medieval archaeological sites are the early Islamic city called Ayla, Aqaba Fort, built by the Mamluk Sultan Qansawh el Ghawri at the beginning of the 16th Century, and a museum.

Across the water one can see the mountains of Sinai, and Eilat in Israel is only a few miles away to the west.

Aqaba is a free-zone and therefore on entry a free visa for 15 days is granted.

AMMAN:

Amman is the modern capital of Jordan, is said to be one of the oldest cities in the world.  It is built on 7 hills.  You can visit the Citadel, Temple of Hercules, Byzantines Church, Umayyad Palace complex, Roman forum and theatre, Odeon, Nymphaeum, the Grand Husseini Mosque and the many museums that are scattered in the city.

Some of the museums include costumes, furnishings, musical instruments and handicrafts dating back to the 19th century.

It is a good idea to be based in Amman and then proceed with your trips to the Mount Nebo, Bethany, Jerash, Madaba and Ajloun.  Visit Down-town, where your experience the hustle and bustle of city life.

HOT SPRINGS:

A little drive away from the Dead Sea and you come across small springs called as the “Hot Springs”. The water that flows from these springs is real hot to the touch.  We were told by our guide that these waters have special healing properties and after a immersion in the hot-springs, many paralyzed people gain the sensation back in their limbs.
