Journalist Haimad’s Mortal Remain Taken to Hometown

Mangaluru: Haimad Hussain, a reporter from Prajavani Kannada daily at its city office, had died of cardiac arrest around 11 am on Friday, while on a trekking mission.

He was among a team of journalists who had gone to study the damage which had been wrought by a wildfire. The Ugadi holiday turned into a day of tragedy for everyone.

The body was brought here and kept in the mortuary. His family in Raichur had already been intimated. His elder brother arrived in the city the same night.

With his consent obtained, a post-mortem examination was held at midnight. Another brother too arrived in the early morning hours of Saturday. The mortal remains were handed over to them soon thereafter.

Then they were taken to the Zeenat Baksh central Juma mosque at Bunder for prayers and rites. The brothers took the remains to Raichur. According to information available, they reached the hometown in the evening.

After keeping the mortal remains for an hour for public homage, they were taken to the Idgah mosque and interred in the mosque grounds.
