Karkala Hotelier Commits Suicide by Consuming Poison

Udupi: Krishna Raj Hegde, a 45-year-old hotel businessman hailing from Bailoor in Karkala, has tragically died by suicide. Hegde reportedly consumed poison at his residence in Aatradi, within the jurisdiction of the Hiriyadka Police Station.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Hegde’s death. Preliminary reports suggest that he may have been experiencing significant mental distress before taking his own life. The precise reasons that led to this extreme action remain unclear at this time.

Hegde was a well-known figure in the local business community, operating several hotels in both Udupi and Manipal. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was actively engaged in religious and social organizations. He held the position of secretary within the Nairbettu Religious Service Committee of the Bailoor–Koodoor Mariyamma Temple.

He is survived by his wife and son.
