Karnataka Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George Visits New Mangalore Port Authority

Mangaluru: Karnataka Minister for Energy and Tourism, K.J. George, visited the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) and reviewed various operational, infrastructure, and tourism-related aspects of the port.

The Minister was welcomed by S. Shanthi, Deputy Chairperson, NMPA, along with senior officers of the Port Authority.

During his visit, K.J. George toured the port’s operational areas to gain a first-hand understanding of its functioning, cargo-handling operations and infrastructure. He also visited the Cruise Terminal and was briefed about the facilities and arrangements in place to promote and support cruise tourism through the port.

The Minister subsequently held a brief meeting with the port management, during which various matters relating to port operations, infrastructure development and the port’s role in supporting the region’s economy and tourism were discussed.

K.J. George was accompanied by Dr Ramprasath Manohar, IAS, Secretary to the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka; Darshan H.V., IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada District; Ivan D’Souza, Member of the Legislative Council; M.A. Gafoor, Chairman of the Karavali Development Board, Mangaluru; and former MLA J.R. Lobo.

Senior officers from the Department of Tourism and various State Government bodies were also present during the visit.
