Karnataka Government Orders Major IPS Reshuffle; Several Senior Officers Given New Postings
Bengaluru: In a significant administrative exercise, the Karnataka Government has carried out a major reshuffle of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, transferring several senior officers to new postings with immediate effect and until further orders.
The order, issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, aims to reorganize key responsibilities across the state’s police administration. A number of senior officers have been assigned upgraded posts, while several others have moved to new positions in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, and other districts.
According to the government notification, Sri Harishekaran P., IPS (KN 1996), who was serving as Additional Director General of Police, Crimes and Technical Services, Bengaluru, has been transferred and appointed as Additional Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, in the upgraded post. He will relieve Sri Umesh Kumar, IPS, of the concurrent charge of the post.
Sri M. Nanjundaswami, IPS (KN 1997), earlier serving as Additional Director General of Police and Additional Director General, Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services and SDRF, Bengaluru, has been posted as Additional Director General of Police, Grievances and Human Rights, in the upgraded post, vice Sri Devajyoti Ray, IPS.
Sri Devajyoti Ray, IPS (KN 1999), has, in turn, been transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Crimes and Technical Services, Bengaluru, vice Sri Harishekaran P., IPS.
Among other senior-level changes, Sri Amit Singh, IPS (KN 2007), Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Karnataka State Reserve Police, in an upgraded post.
Sri Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, IPS (KN 2009), Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City, has been transferred as Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Hubballi-Dharwad, vice Sri N. Shashi Kumar, IPS.
Sri R. Chethan, IPS (KN 2010), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, in the downgraded post, vice Sri Amit Singh, IPS.
Sri Nikam Prakash Amrit, IPS (KN 2012), also awaiting posting, has been named Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City, vice Sri Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, IPS.
Sri Shiva Prakash Devaraju, IPS (KN 2014), who was awaiting posting, has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Anti-Narcotic Task Force, in the vacant post.
At the district and city police level, Smt. Padmini Sahoo, IPS (KN 2015), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Bengaluru, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, Chikkaballapur District, vice Sri Kushal Chouksey, IPS.
Sri R. Srinivas Gowda, IPS (KN 2016), Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara, has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, City Crime Branch-1, vice Sri Srihari Babu B. L., IPS.
Dr. Shivakumar, IPS (KN 2016), Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (excluding BDA and BMICAPA) Task Force, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, Karnataka Lokayukta, in the vacant post.
Sri Kushal Chouksey, IPS (KN 2018), Superintendent of Police, Chikkaballapur District, has been moved to the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Bengaluru, vice Smt. Padmini Sahoo, IPS.
Sri Sahil Bagla, IPS (KN 2018), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic East Division, Bengaluru City, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Koppal, vice Dr. Ram Lxmanasa Arasiddi, IPS.
Sri Rohan Jagadeesh, IPS (KN 2019), Superintendent of Police, Gadag, has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru South District (Ramanagara), vice Sri R. Srinivas Gowda, IPS.
Sri Mithun H. N., IPS (KN 2020), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Mangaluru City, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Gadag, vice Sri Rohan Jagadeesh, IPS.
The government order also declared certain posts equivalent in status and responsibilities to cadre posts under Rule 12 of the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016. The post of Additional Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, and the post of Additional Director General of Police, Grievances and Human Rights, have been declared equivalent to the cadre post of Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence.
Similarly, the post of Inspector General of Police, Karnataka State Reserve Police, has been declared equivalent to the cadre post of Inspector General of Police, Police Computer Wing. The post of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, has been declared equivalent to the cadre post of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department. The post of Superintendent of Police, Anti-Narcotic Task Force, has been declared equivalent to the cadre post of Superintendent of Police, Mandya.
The order was issued by Sanjay B. S., Under Secretary to Government, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Services), Government of Karnataka, by order and in the name of the Governor of Karnataka.
The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh administrative alignments across key policing and enforcement wings of the state.
