Karnataka State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament Commences in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The Karnataka State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament began today at the Father Muller Indoor Stadium in Mangaluru, marking the start of a highly anticipated competition featuring participants from various corners of the state. The inaugural ceremony was a grand affair, attended by a host of dignitaries and an enthusiastic gathering of players and supporters.

The event was presided over by Mr. Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru, whose presence underscored the significance of sports in fostering discipline and community spirit. Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, delivered the Presidential Address, offering words of encouragement and motivation to the assembled athletes. Ms. Shalini Rajesh Shetty, Chief Coach of United Athletics, Udupi, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, sharing her insights on the importance of early sports development.

The dais was also occupied by prominent figures from the table tennis community, including Mr. Gowtham Shetty, Hon. President of the D.K. Table Tennis Association and Vice President of the Karnataka Table Tennis Association (KTTA); Mr. T.G. Upadhya, Chief Referee; Mr. K.R. Manjunatha, Hon. Secretary, KTTA; and Mr. I.K. Jayachandra, Hon. Secretary of the Udupi District Table Tennis Association and Vice President, KTTA. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort behind organizing the prestigious tournament.

In his address, Mr. Sudheer Kumar Reddy stressed the fundamental importance of mastering the basics of table tennis. He urged the players to approach the sport with unwavering passion and dedication, expressing his sincere hope that the tournament would serve as a platform for the emergence of future champions who would represent Karnataka with distinction.

Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo delivered a motivational speech, encouraging the young players to cultivate ambitious aspirations and to pursue those dreams with relentless effort. His words resonated deeply with the audience, instilling a sense of purpose and determination.

Ms. Shalini Rajesh Shetty drew attention to the critical role of introducing children to sports at an early age. She advised parents and coaches to allow children to focus on a single sport or activity that genuinely interests them, rather than overburdening them with multiple commitments. This focused approach, she argued, would lead to greater enjoyment and ultimately, better performance.

The tournament was officially declared open by Mr. Sudheer Kumar Reddy, signaling the commencement of the matches. The opening day featured competitions in the Women’s, Men’s, and Under-19 categories, setting the stage for an exciting week of table tennis action. The event promises to be a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship, as players vie for top honors in their respective categories.
