Kaup Police Arrest Two including Doctor for Cheating Bank with Fake Documents for Loan
Udupi: The Kaup Police arrested two persons after they produced fake documents and attempted to obtain a loan at the Bank of Baroda, Shankerpura.
The arrested have been identified as Dr Renate Sonia D’Souza, a resident of Salmara Uppoor and Vijay Kottari, a resident of Saligrama.
According to the Kaup police, Dr Renate claimed to be a doctor and professor at the Manipal KMC Hospital. On July 13, she had applied for a loan at the Bank of Baroda to purchase a vehicle for her brother. The bank authorities, while verifying her salary document slips found that she had produced fake documents to the bank.
The bank manager Alwyn D’Souza filed a complaint about cheating against Dr Renate Sonia D’Souza at the Kaup police station.
Based on the complaint Kaup PSI Rajshekar B Saganoor arrested Dr Renate Sonia D’Souza at Katapadi on July 26. During interrogation, she revealed that Vijay Kotari had helped her to prepare the fake documents. The police later arrested Vijay Kotari and seized his laptop.
The accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
