KMC Hospital Attavar Launches Comprehensive Keloid Clinic; Day-Care Treatment Available Twice a Week
Mangaluru: KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangaluru, has launched a Comprehensive Keloid Clinic to provide specialised and advanced treatment for people suffering from keloids and other problematic scars.
Keloids are raised, thick scars that develop when scar tissue continues to grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. They may occur following an injury, surgery, acne, or even a minor cut or burn. While often perceived as a cosmetic concern, keloids can also cause itching, pain and irritation, affecting a person’s daily life and self-confidence.
At the new clinic, specialists from the Departments of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Radiation Therapy will work together to provide comprehensive care. Each patient will undergo an assessment and receive an individualised treatment plan based on their condition.
A key feature of the clinic is its day-care approach. Patients do not need to be admitted to the hospital or stay overnight. Depending on the treatment advised by the doctor, they can undergo the procedure and return home on the same day.
The Comprehensive Keloid Clinic will function every Wednesday and Saturday at KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangaluru.
Through this initiative, the hospital aims to make specialised keloid care more accessible by bringing surgical and radiation therapy services under one roof and tailoring treatment to individual patient needs.
Speaking about the new facility, Dr Chakrapani M., Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospital, Attavar, said the Comprehensive Keloid Clinic reflects the hospital’s continued commitment to advanced, multidisciplinary and patient-friendly healthcare. He emphasised the importance of making specialised treatment easily accessible, with expert doctors working together to provide convenient and comprehensive care.
