KMC Hospital Mangaluru to Mark World Stroke Day with Awareness Session on Early Recognition
Mangaluru: KMC Hospital, B.R. Ambedkar Circle, Mangaluru, will organise a World Stroke Day awareness session on Saturday, October 31, from noon to 1 p.m. at Tower 2, Ground Floor, KMC Hospital.
The session will focus on recognising stroke symptoms, responding to medical emergencies and understanding the importance of timely treatment. It also aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to become certified first responders in stroke emergencies.

Under the theme “Every Minute Counts” and the call to action #ActFast, the programme will provide practical guidance on identifying stroke symptoms and responding appropriately. Topics will include recognising warning signs, responding when an apparently healthy person suddenly collapses, and understanding how strokes can affect people across age groups.
Participants will also learn about the BE FAST acronym, a tool for identifying common stroke warning signs and recognising the need for immediate medical attention.
KMC Hospital Mangaluru has treated more than 25,000 stroke cases to date and provides comprehensive stroke care around the clock. Its services include neurology, neurosurgery, interventional radiology, intensive care and neurorehabilitation, supporting patients through various stages of treatment and recovery.
Speaking ahead of the programme, Pramod Kunder, hospital director of KMC Hospital Mangaluru, said, “Stroke care depends heavily on how quickly symptoms are recognised and medical attention is sought. People often lose valuable time because they are unsure how to identify the warning signs or what action to take.
“Through this awareness session, we want to help people understand the importance of acting quickly, recognising stroke symptoms and seeking emergency medical care without delay. Greater awareness can help save lives and reduce the risk of long-term disability.”
The session will include practical discussions on identifying stroke symptoms, responding to sudden collapse and understanding the importance of emergency treatment. Through this initiative, the hospital aims to promote stroke awareness and train participants to respond effectively to stroke emergencies, improving the chances of timely intervention and better patient outcomes.
Registration is free but mandatory. Interested participants must register by sending their names via WhatsApp to 91082 33978. The last date for registration is October 27, 2026.
