Kota: Kota police have apprehended a 26-year-old individual for allegedly orchestrating illegal online cricket betting activities. The arrest occurred on February 9th near the Coastal Paradise Hotel on Pandeshwar Road in Pandeshwar village.
The accused has been identified as Manith, a resident of Hangarakatte, Balkudru village, Brahmavar taluk. Kota Police Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar R., accompanied by his team, conducted a raid on the specified location. Upon the arrival of the police, individuals involved in the betting activities dispersed, but Manith was successfully taken into custody.
Authorities confiscated an iPhone, which they believe was used to facilitate online cricket betting, along with Rs 800 in cash from Manith’s possession. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was running an organized online betting scheme via a mobile application, focusing on the T-20 World Cup cricket match between Oman and Zimbabwe. Police suspect that Manith was not acting alone and had associates involved in the illicit operation.
A formal case has been registered at the Kota Police Station, and Manith has been presented before the court to face charges related to illegal gambling and potential violations of relevant regulations. The Kota police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend any other individuals connected to this online betting network.
