Kundapur: In yet another instance to prove that honesty still prevails in the modern-day, commercially-oriented world, an autorickshaw-driver from Tekkatte in the taluk was not only keen to return a purse he found but also went out of the way to track down its owner and ensure its safe return.

Some time ago, Kedur Dinesh Kamath, who plies his autorickshaw from the express bus stop at Tekkatte had found a purse and a handkerchief on the national highway 66. It contained cash and valuable documents like vehicle registration certificate, driving licence, ATM card and other papers.

Unfortunately it carried no details of the owner or any contact number. When the effort to identify the owner failed, he wrote a letter to an address found in one of the documents, informing that the purse was safe with him.

On receipt of the letter, Shashikala K, the owner of the purse who is a teacher at the Jaycees Education Trust in Sringeri in Chikkamagaluru district, accompanied by husband M S Harish, arrived in Tekkatte on Aug 13 and claimed the purse on proper identification.

They commended Kamath for his integrity and humanitarian concern. May his tribe increase.
