Kundapur: Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Cattle Transportation, Three Arrested

Kundapur: In a significant operation targeting illegal cattle transportation, police within the Amasebailu Police Station limits have successfully apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in the illicit activity. The arrests followed a tip-off and subsequent interception of vehicles transporting cattle under inhumane conditions.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mustaq Hussain Saab Nadaf, 29, and Saleem Hussain Saab Nadaf, 33, both residents of Bhagyanagar, Ramdurg in the Belagavi district, and Nadeem Abdul Khader, 34, a resident of Shiruru, Byndoor. All three accused have been presented before the court to face legal proceedings.

According to official reports, Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Ashok Kumar of Amasebailu Police Station, while conducting routine night patrol duties on Saturday, received crucial information from personnel stationed at the Hosangadi check post. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, law enforcement officers intercepted a Tata Intra vehicle originating from the Hulikal Ghat area at approximately 5:00 AM on Sunday.

A thorough inspection of the vehicle revealed the presence of two bulls, which were found to be confined and transported in a manner deemed cruel and inhumane. Initial inquiries led the driver to confess that the cattle were being transported for slaughter, with the intention of obtaining meat. The estimated value of the seized cattle is approximately Rs 1,00,000. The Tata Intra vehicle itself is valued at an estimated Rs 4 lakh.

Further investigation revealed a Toyota Etios car trailing the Tata Intra vehicle, raising suspicion that it was acting as an escort for the illegal transport operation. Law enforcement officials promptly moved to intercept the Etios; however, the driver and one other occupant managed to evade capture by fleeing the scene. One individual present in the car was taken into custody. The estimated value of the Toyota Etios car is Rs 5 lakh.

Authorities have successfully seized the cattle and vehicles involved in the illegal operation. The accused individuals are currently in custody, and a formal case has been registered at the Amasebailu Police Station. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the individuals who fled and to determine the full extent of the operation.
