Kundapur Congress Members Stage Protest against IT Raid

Kundapur: Condemning the raids conducted by sleuths of Income Tax (IT) Department on the premises of Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, activists of Kundapur Congress Committee staged a protest in the city on Friday, August 4.

Addressing the protesters, Kundapur Block president Malyadi Shivaram Shetty said that the raids conducted are politically motivated. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre was misusing agencies such as the IT Department and the Central Bureau of Investigation for political vendetta.

Questioning the timing of the raid, he said, the raids were conducted to intimidate the Congress MLAs from Gujarat who are staying in a resort near Bengaluru with D K Shivakumar. He alleged that the IT raid stands as an example for the indulgence of BJP in the blatant misuse of power.

He expressed displeasure against the deployment of the Central Reserve Police Force personnel during the raid.

Congress leaders Vikas Hegde, K Shivandand, Ganesh Sherigar, Vinod Crasta, Chandrashekar Shetty, Jyothi V Putran, Echitartha Shetty, Chandrashekar Kharvi, Prabhakar Kodi, Shridhar Sherigar, Keshav Bhat, Chandra Ameen, Devaki Sannayya, Vakwadi Ramesh Shetty and others took part in the protest.
