Kundapur: Property valued at several lakhs of rupees was gutted when fire broke out at a chemical industry in Koteshwar industrial area here, on February 24.
The incident occurred at around 11 am at the Damodar Chemical industries at Koteshwar in Industrial area. Some of the industry staff noticed flames and thick smoke billowing from the place and raised an alarm.
According to the fire officials of Kundapur, the fire control received a call at around 11 am about fire at the Damodar Chemical industries at Koteshwar. Two fire tenders from Kundapur were rushed to the spot and got into action to douse the fire. Property worth around Rs 40 lakh was destroyed in the flames.
Due to the fire, the industry was completely gutted. Police and fire tenders took two hours to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be known, but short-circuit is suspected.
