Kuwait: IKFS Elects Office-bearers for 2015-2017

Kuwait: Long-serving community Advisor of KKMCC and K I C, Dr Ghalib Al-Mashoor was re-elected as President of Indo-Kuwait Friendship Society for a second term when the elections of office-bearers for 2015–2017 were held at the Play Club pavilion in Salmiya recently. Dr Ghalib Al-Mashoor, Founding Chairman of IKFS who served as President since inception, will have Advocate Sayid Mohamed Nizar as his First Vice-president and A K S Abdul Nazarre as the General Secretary.

Engineer Sayid Fadal Nizar and Sayed Zoheb were given life member status for their services to the association over the years. K Natarajan, Azizu Rahman and Pradeep Rajkumar were elected as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Secretary respectively while Chartered Accountant Ifthekhar Ahmad was re-elected as Treasurer.

“My immediate goal is to tap friendship and convince Kuwaiti brothers to treat our fellow Indians with dignity and improve relationships.” He said that IKFS will request the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to arrange various cultural exchange programs between India and Kuwait, and also request the Indian Minister of Overseas to arrange semi-annual meetings with Kuwaiti counter parts on a friendly basis as well as on humanitarian missions. He praised Shaikh Sabah Ahamed Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait and Shaikh Shaikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait for hosting and taking care of more than 750,000 Indians in Kuwait, while Indians are known as a favorite nationality among Kuwaitis.

There are 40 working committee members in addition to about 25 known personalities as patrons, who are scattered around the world for IKFS.

IKFS (www.indo-kwtfriendshipsociety.com) is a Non-Profit NRI Indian friendship association in Kuwait. Its activities mainly include various awareness and educational programs, art and cultural events, humanitarian services, sports and tour programs focusing mainly on the expatriate Indian population and Kuwaiti citizens in Kuwait. Last year, the IKFS in coordination with KKMCC – Jahra committee conducted a free medical camp at the remote area “Jahra” in Kuwait, for low-income workers in association with Jahra based Sub-Speciality Medical Centre. Various nationalities benefited from the medical camp, especially those from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
