Every year KKK celebrates its annual function in the month of November, commemorating the formation of erstwhile Karnataka state in the year 1956. The children and members of the Koota put up a grand cultural show depicting the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka.

This year was all the more colorful as the guest of honour was none other than the living legend Padmashree Sudha Narayana Murthy.

The programme started with an invocation dance offering obeisance to Lord Ganapati, remover of all obstacles. There were some skits in between enumerating the loyalty of our great freedom fighters who brought independence to India.

The cultural programme had a grand finale depicting the importance of women. It showed that women have hidden power, which when harnessed can turn them into great entrepreneurs and lead in any walk of life from the frontlines. It had a video clipping of Sudha Narayana Murthy talking about the power of women in society. It was a befitting finale by the Koota members for the dedication of Padmashree Sudha Narayana Murthy towards the empowerment of women.

The stage function started with a welcome speech by the president of the KKK, Sudhir Shenoy. Padmashree Sudha Narayana Murthy rendered an inspirational speech to the assembled audience and KKK members. She quoted her life experiences and explained about the history of Karnataka in particular. She appreciated how Bollywood has connected so many people around the world to India, and was extremely happy to share the joy of Rajyotsava celebrations.

“It is emotional, very nice and refreshing to see so many Kannadigas outside India, carrying on our rich culture and passing it on to our younger generations.” She stressed that it was this great culture that has made India one of most greatest countries in the world.

KKK thanked all the sponsors with mementos, which were given away by Sudha Narayana Murthy. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by General Secretary Deepak Katti and a delicious dinner served to all.
