Life and Traffic in Total Disarray as Flash Rains Lash Bengaluru

Bengaluru: In the rarest of rare contrasts, the capital city of Karnataka – the Garden City – witnessed the highest recorded maximum temperature in several decades – 39 degrees-plus – in the forenoon on Friday, May 6, which was followed around 4 pm by heavy rains in almost all parts of the city.

Reports of heavy downpour have been received from Majestic, Mysuru Road, Lavelle Road, Rajajinagar, UB City, Maurya circle, Shivananda circle and other places. Rains and hail shower have been reported from Whitefield, Kadugodi, Malleswaram, Yeshwantpur and some other points. Lightning, thunder, and heavy rains have been experienced in most places.

Traffic was in total disarray at crucial points. Although office-goers returning home had to face hardships, there was overall relief about the respite the public got from the scorching heat. The weather forecast indicates that the same situation might prevail over the coming three or four days.

Trees have been uprooted near Sanjay Gandhi hospital and in front of the Jayanagar police station.

  1. Almost 15 yeayears ago, one somanahalli mallayya krishna from kaangress party promised to turn Bengaluru into singaapura. Who would have thought the city would be turned into a Waterworld theme park by kaangress? Third world leaders are very talented!! Smiles . ..
