Lorry–Car Collision Near Kaup: One Dead, Two Injured

Kaup: A tragic road accident occurred early Friday morning on National Highway 66 at Pangala village in Kaup taluk of Udupi district, resulting in the death of a car driver.

According to reports, Manjunath Gowda, a lorry driver transporting goods from Lokapur in Bagalkot district to Mangaluru, had loaded cargo in Mangaluru and was proceeding towards Ginigeri in Koppal. While he was moving slowly on a one-way stretch near Vidyavardhaka School in Pangala, a speeding Kia car coming from behind rammed into the lorry.

Due to the impact, the front portion of the car was completely damaged, and the driver, Shreyas Achar, was seriously injured and trapped inside the vehicle. Though he was rushed to a hospital by locals, doctors declared him dead.

Two other occupants in the car, Darwin and Surya, sustained minor injuries and were admitted to the Government Hospital at Ajjarkadu in Udupi for treatment.

A case has been registered at Kaup Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
