Love, Life and Marriage…

Mangaluru: After the recent incident at Mysore about a Hindu girl marrying a Muslim boy who are both MBA graduates and was in the relationship for more than 12 yrs is been opposed by the right-wing group was really funny. Was this the first inter cast marriage happening in India or did the right wing group wake up now?

Love-Life-and-Marriage.. (1) If you see there are thousands of couple getting married inter-caste in India every year, so what’s new? New is the outfit who are been trained to voice against these things. I don’t want to go deeper into this thing but concentrate on the better side of inter-faith marriages for a better understanding. One of my Uncle and Aunty had an interfaith marriage, he remained a Hindu and she remained a Christian all their life, practicing their rituals till their death. Whereas one of my friend who as a Hindu wanted to marry a Christian girl from Goa when the church demanded that boy should convert to Christianity if they need to marry in the church finally made them resolve and break their relationship and live independently as friends we all might have seen such stories in our daily life.

But for me marrying a inter-faith was a different experiences itself, it gave me a thinking which is very diversified and after more than 14 yrs of marriage when I look back, I feel more like true partisan Indian enjoying and celebrating all festivals all year, My father-in- law is a born Muslim still practising all his daily rituals, this has given me an opportunity to go to many holy places and mosques, I also enjoy surplus hospitality during festival. My mother-in-law is a born Hindu thus we celebrate all major festivals at my wife’s grandmother’s place, this also helped me understand more on Hindu traditions, rituals and their scientific meaning of the same. Being guest during festivals is always good because hospitality of relatives during festivals comes as a bonus. Me being born in Christian family, we celebrate Christian festivals at our house, thus, we have all festivals and 100% celebration all around the year.

Religion has nothing to do with faith, faith is inbuilt and it has to be developed so that it suits your understanding, we need more peacemaker than religion holders. We as Indian need to live life more in harmony because whether we like it or not diversification is the law of nature and no one can stop it- we need to breed a better generation not a generation of hatred and divided in the name of religion. Religion comes to act only to make a person better and truthful, and not to hurt and harm others. Religion should be practiced only in the temples, mosque or church’s or in their respective homes and not outside on the roads and being the moral police. Indians have not become intolerant this is word put by the Politician’s for their selfish need, go into any house in the village or towns they will never refuse you to give you tea or lunch. Maybe in bigger cities they may think twice because, in cities, humans have lost their faith in fellow humans they have stopped trusting each other.

We need to develop a space for children of peace and prosperity, our children belong to the new-fangled generation they will live their dreams, in which they may succeed or fail, you may share your concerns but you cannot regulate them. They will fly far and higher. They will go to different places, mix with people of different colours, creeds, religions and nations. They will have various colours of nature; there will be a breed of the transformed generation which will be highly intelligent, logical, spiritually more advanced and mature. They will breed a new generation which you cannot even imagine or dream and this is the law of nature. You can send your feedback at rohanshiri@yahoo.com
