The tanker was plying from Panambur on the National Highway towards Kerala. According to the police on duty at the spot, he had halted the vehicles moving from Bendurwell to allow vehicles coming from the other side to move. The gas laden tanker lost control, jumped a trench, crashed into the barricades and a pile of mud, coming to a halt on the side of the road near Pumpwell circle.

A person, who was sticking posters on the barricades, was injured. He has been admitted to the  hospital. The front portion of the tanker was damaged, but luckily, there was no leakage of gas.
The fire brigade reached the spot. Traffic police and the firemen are trying to move the tanker to a safer place to facilitate smooth flow of traffic in the area.

  1. Roads in Mangalore are narrow. Population is increasing by the day. Traffic is doubling everywhere. The situation is not getting better, but it will get worse due to curcumstances beyond anyone’s control. All that we as elected and selected officials responsible for people’s safety in travel have to look into all precautions in safeguarding the interest of the people – our best guarded secret of India. We have to allocate a good chunk of our burdget for the betterment of the people. In turn, people have to pay legitimate taxes, and it is obvious. Huge LPG Tankers or any other major loads should be restricted to move into the City areas only during the non-peak hours so that these huge vehicles do not get hindered with heavy traffic. Look into all the precautions well before hand so that people’s safety and security is well maintained at all times and under all circumstances. Thank you.
