Man from Bantwal Attacked by Group with Lethal Weapons at Malpe Fishing Port

Man from Bantwal Attacked by Group with Lethal Weapons at Malpe Fishing Port

Udupi: An unidentified group of people arrived in a car and attacked a fish trader from Bantwal with lethal weapons at the Malpe Fishing Port during the wee hours of Friday, June 7.

The injured person has been identified as Riyaz Farangipete (36) son of Hamza a resident of Bantwal.

According to police sources, Riyaz along with three others had come to Malpe Fishing port to purchase fish in his Pick-up vehicle at around 4:30 am. The vehicle was parked inside the port and three of them had gone to have coffee. Riyaz who was resting in the Pick-Up was attacked by a group of 4 persons with deadly weapons. The accused after assaulting Riyaz fled from the spot.

Riyaz who was seriously injured was shifted to the Manipal hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger.

A case has been registered in the Malpe Police Station and investigation is on.
