Man Lured from Sullia on Pretext of Car Hire, Assaulted and Killed; Two Accused Arrested

Sullia: Sullia police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a man who was allegedly lured from Sullia to Duggaldadka on the pretext of hiring a car, assaulted, and later died due to the impact of the attack.

Based on a complaint filed by Sumaiyya (35), a resident of Kasta village in Sullia, a murder case was registered. According to the complaint, her husband, Abdul Jabbar, was taken by the accused, including Mohammed Rafiq, on October 16 in the afternoon under the pretext of hiring a car. He was allegedly taken to Duggaldadka, harassed there, and later brought to Kallugundi in Sullia, where he was brutally assaulted and threatened with death before being sent home.

On October 17, Abdul Jabbar reportedly fell ill at home. He was shifted to a hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries. Based on Sumaiyya’s complaint filed on October 18, Sullia Police registered Crime No. 125/2025 under Section 105 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Subsequently, as the medical report confirmed that Abdul Jabbar’s death was the result of the assault by the accused, the case was altered to a murder case under Section 103 read with Section 3(5) of the BNS.

During the investigation, police arrested the prime accused, Mohammed Rafiq (41), a resident of Sullia Kasba, produced him before the court, and obtained police custody. The car allegedly used in the crime has been seized. Another accused, Manohar K.S. alias Manu (42), a resident of Sampaje in Sullia, has also been arrested and produced before the court. Further investigation is underway, police said.
