Man sets himself on Fire in Gangolli

Kundapur: A 35-year-old man attempted suicide inside the Temple at Gangolli on Thursday, September 17, afternoon by setting himself on fire. The man and two others who went to rescue him were also seriously injured with burn wounds.

The man who attempted suicide has been identified as Raghavendra Kharvi (35), a resident of Gangolli. Two others Laxman and Janardhan Kharvi who went to rescue Raghavendra were also injured in the incident.

According to the Gangolli PSI Bhimashanker, people in the Temple were busy with the Mahalaya Amavasya puja preparations and the devotees were waiting for the Temple priest. All of a Sudden Raghavendra Kharvi entered the Temple with a Can of petrol and set himself on fire. Locals Janardhan Kharvi and Laxman immediately tried to rescue Raghavendra.

The Gangolli Apathbhandava 24×7 team rushed to the spot and shifted all three to a private hospital in Udupi. The condition of Raghavendra Kharvi is said to be critical.

Gangolli PSI Bhimashanker visited the spot and collected the necessary information.

The exact reason for taking the extreme step is not yet known.
