Mandd Sobhann Announces First World Konkani Music Mega Convention

Mangaluru: Mandd Sobhann, the world’s premier Konkani cultural organization, has announced the First World Konkani Music Mega Convention during its 40th anniversary celebrations (1986-2026). The event aligns with the organization’s core objective of promoting and preserving Konkani culture.

The Muhoortham and Logo Launch for this grand convention, scheduled to be held in Mangaluru from November 3 to 15, 2026, will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar.

Shri U.T. Khader, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and District In-charge Minister of Dakshina Kannada, will unveil the logo. Shri Vedavyas Kamath (MLA, Mangaluru South), Shri Ivan D’Souza (MLC), and Goan Artiste Shri Michael Gracias will be present as Guests of Honour.

A key highlight of the Music Mega Convention will be an ambitious attempt to establish a Guinness World Record for the Longest Singing Marathon by Multiple Singers, aiming for a duration of 12 days, 12 hours, and 12 minutes. This endeavor will see the participation of over 6,000 singers from Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala, and other states within India, and from Konkani communities residing abroad.

Singers representing diverse Konkani-speaking communities, including Christian, GSB, Daldi, Kudmi, Kharvi, Siddi, Syrian Orthodox, and others, will contribute to the record attempt by performing approximately 5,000 Konkani songs.

In addition to the record attempt, the Music Mega Convention will feature a series of symposiums dedicated to various aspects of music. The event will also recognize and honor veteran musicians who have achieved significant milestones in their careers. A Hall of Fame and an exhibition showcasing music and cultural artifacts will also be arranged. The entire program is conceived as a tribute to Eric Ozario for his profound and lasting contribution to Konkani music.

Mandd Sobhann warmly invites members of the media to attend the Muhurtham and Logo Launch program. Your presence will help highlight this significant cultural milestone. Please join us and help amplify the reach of the First World Konkani Music Mega Convention by sharing this initiative with your audiences. Together, let us celebrate and preserve Konkani culture.

The following individuals were present at the press conference held on April 8, 2026, at the Press Club:
