Mandd Sobhann Holds Rehearsal for First World Konkani Music Mega Convention’s Guinness World Record Attempt
Mangaluru: Mandd Sobhann, a leading Konkani cultural organisation, conducted a rehearsal at Town Hall, Mangaluru, on October 31 in preparation for its ambitious Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Singing Marathon, as part of the First World Konkani Music Mega Convention.

The rehearsal was organised to familiarise participating teams with the stage arrangements, performance schedule and guidelines for the mega musical event. A total of 16 groups representing various parishes, institutions and cultural organisations were selected to participate.
The participating groups were Izo’yche Ko’lle, Fr. Walter Albuquerque SJ Memorial Choir Mangalore, Nirmarche Sargam, Music House Mangalore, Agrarche Aanj, Mynas of Urwa, St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) Teaching Staff, ICYM Bajal, Cordel Gaitha, Derebail Harmonic Beats, Bajpe Ga’yon Mo’nddo’lli, Sadhana Balaga Mangalore, St. Antony Church Kulur, Bajpe Stree Sanghatan, St. Teresa Church Paldane and Sumell, Mandd Sobhann.
The rehearsal began with Izo’yche Ko’lle, which presented five songs. Each participating group was allotted 15 minutes, enabling the organisers to assess the stage arrangements, coordination and time management.
While one team performed on stage, volunteers worked behind the scenes to coordinate the arrival and preparation of the next group. Participants were also briefed on the rules, regulations and procedures to be followed during the actual Guinness World Record attempt.
The rehearsal provided singers with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the stage, understand the performance format and gain confidence ahead of the much-anticipated event. For many participants, performing on the very stage where they will later showcase their talent before the official Guinness World Records adjudicators was a memorable experience.
The enthusiastic participation of all 16 groups reflected the collective spirit, commitment and dedication of the Konkani-speaking community towards making this historic musical endeavour a success.
As part of its Ruby Jubilee celebrations, Mandd Sobhann is organising the First World Konkani Music Mega Convention at Town Hall, Mangaluru, from November 3 to 15. The highlight of the convention will be an ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the Longest Singing Marathon, bringing together thousands of singers to celebrate Konkani music, culture, and unity.
The rehearsal marked an important milestone in the preparations, with participating teams and volunteers working together to ensure smooth coordination and the successful conduct of the proposed world-record attempt.
