Mangalorean Clifford Rebello under Locked Doors without Proper Food/Water by His Employer in UAE

Mangaluru: In reference to the article “Social Activist to the Rescue of Mangalorean Clifford Joseph Rebello facing Injustice with Abu Dhabi Employer” published in Mangalorean.com on 10 October, a social activist in UAE who has been following up on this case, has sent the following details to Mangalorean.com stating –

“I understand from Clifford’s voice mail sent to me through WhatsApp that Ramesh Chander from the Community Affairs, Indian Embassy, had met the Employer’s representative in their accommodation premises and discussed Clifford’s free movement but was unsuccessful in getting through. I further understand from Clifford that they declined the request though they had earlier agreed to him over the phone. This arrogant action of the Employer’s representative was witnessed personally by Ramesh Chander though they otherwise are supposed to honour the Court’s order against them”.

“Clifford also said that Ramesh Chander was kind enough to provide him with some food during his visit and thanked him for the kind gesture. However, it is learnt that Clifford is still under the locked doors of his Employers accommodation and today is the 5th day of his almost abduction without proper food and water. I understand that just mere speaking to the Employer’s staff may not help him to come out of this situation”.

“The matter needs to be referred to the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the Police Authorities by showing them the Court Order awarded in favour of Clifford and that the Employer is bound to settle his dues in the Court and allow Clifford to exit the Country after receiving the same legally. Until then his movements inside the company provided residence needs to be allowed without any restrictions”.
